The tools to access the Internet are legion. Today, the box, the router and a multitude of modems are the subject of lively debate as to which one would be the most effective. Everyone can get an idea of the accessory he needs after making the difference between each of these accessories.
What is an internet box?The box is in fact an all-in-one situation that allows quick access to the Internet. The device connects to a telephone jack and converts the received signal via the jack into a web signal. At the same time, the device routes the data and transmits it in binary codes to the different computers and devices connected to the box. Some boxes also include switches or Ethernet jacks that provide access to the web through Ethernet jacks. Boxes would provide access to a good quality connection with theoretical data rates of 1000 Mbps. But often, they must be equipped with a switch, a repeater or another router to improve the quality of the Internet connection. What is a modem for?The modem (demodulator modulator contraction) is a tool built into all boxes. It decodes the analog signal and transforms it into bits that it communicates to another device, often a second modem. The modem therefore modulates the signals on transmission and demodulates them on reception at the end of the line, thus creating a network that makes it possible to establish an Internet connection. There are several kinds of modems. You will choose yours depending on whether you have an ADSL connection, Wifi, or even optical fiber. Modem performance is often related to the types of devices you associate with it. Overall, the modem does not work independently of the box or router to which it is integrated. The router: a very useful accessoryThe router is a device that allows to create several poles of connections and induces a connection of very good quality. Without a router, you can always access the internet, including a modem and an Ethernet jack. But the router creates a local network to which you can connect multiple devices at the same time. There are wireless routers that works through Wi-Fi, but also routers equipped with switches for a wired high-speed connection. The better the router, the better the quality of the connection. Our tips and tricks to see a better connection at homeThe wifi signal is a bit like a promise that never comes true. It is generally thought that the right router will give us access to the fastest speed. And in fact, this is never really the case. However, thousands of users take full advantage of their wifi. How do they do, do you wonder maybe? Here are their tips summarized in a few words. Set the router correctlyYou can not imagine the number of people who block their own wifi connection by placing the router anyhow. Yet, one of the simplest trick is to simply place the wifi router in the center of the house. The common mistake of placing at the other end of the room to position yourself at the other end does not work: it reduces the range of the signal. On the other hand, the wifi diffuses better in all the house when the router is in full center of the room. Enterprise router is a basic product for any business/enterprise. It is also useful that the router does not rest on the floor. Reception is always better when it is sitting on a table or desk, roughly the same level as the device to be connected. Finally, although it is not bad to direct the antennas of the router in the direction of relay antennas, experience shows that the wifi signal is much better when the antennas are directed to the ceiling. Avoid interference that blocks the wifi connectionThe wifi network can also suffer from some interference that reduces its strength. For example, every time your router is placed against a wall, it has trouble broadcasting the signal properly. If your office is made of steel, iron or aluminum, the signal will almost always be blocked. Often too, it is the thick walls of the room, filing cabinets near the router, or even interference from another wifi network that is problematic, especially in rural areas. Wireless phones, microwave ovens, baby phones and even your smartphone can interfere with the quality of your Wi-Fi network. In short, the less crowded your router is, the better. A last tip that works well is to opt for a WiFi repeater, or to create a PLC network near the router. Even an old router can serve this purpose and improve your wifi signal.
